INSTALLMENTS arose out of the pandemic of SARS-CoV-2, coronavirus, but investigates the material and use of plexiglass that precedes the pandemic. The project consists of site-specific partitions temporarily installed on public park benches and tables. I am experimenting with the partition as a public sculpture that represents the unseen barrier between individuals. These pieces blur the lines of public art and public safety measures. INSTALLMENTS appropriates the partition and places it in open space. This project is an intervention in public space, a performance imitating the work of essential laborers, and challenges the absurdity while acknowledging the validity of these forms.
